Feeling at home…

claiming his spot on the couch

This is my first blogging experience, but I feel it necessary since the tripawd community is limited. We, my husband and I, are the owners of a 2.8 yr old English Bulldog, Carter. He does not have cancer, but he has suffered from what is being diagnosed as an auto-immune disease since he was just 6 months. After many mysterious fevers and leg-swellings we finally seem to have his condition under control.

The only side effect has been a lame left hind leg. He has a torn CCL as well as a luxating patella. After a serious infection he has experienced nothing but pain in that leg. With our Vet’s guidance, we have decided to amputate the leg to make Carter pain-free.

His surgery is scheduled for March 30, but in the mean time it’s nice to know there is a community of people who have gone, or are going through a similar experience. We will continue to check-in to read and share stories.

Thanks!

Carter & Pawrents, I think you get the prize for having the most unusual reason for becoming a Tripawd. Not trying to make light of it, just that your condition is all new to us. We and many others will learn a lot from you, I know it. Stay strong, I know you can.

Thanks for joining us here. We hope that the blogs and Discussion Forums will provide the calm, cool energy you need to get through this. Hang in there, you are in great company.

    Hi Carter’s Pawrents,

I was so surprised to see a bully here. I have a senior named Betty. We frequent the BulldogsWorld discussion forums, have you been there? They have a great group and a good medical forum too.

Please keep us up to date on Carter’s prognosis as the date gets closer. It’s so far out that I’m wondering, are they considering not doing it if he improves?

We’ll keep you posted! Carter’s surgery is a definite, but we’re just waiting for him to have a lower dosage of steroids.
He’s winding down, so that is the earliest he can have surgery.

I have not visited that website, BulldogsWorld, but I will definitely check it out. Thanks for the heads up!

    Welcome!

Best of luck on the surgery!

To pass the time and take your mind off of the surgery, I have an old classmate that has a live puppy cam on two English bulldogs that are now just starting to walk!

Bet you won’t get any work done! I love live puppy cams!
